保单在早期阶段积累现金价值的效率较高,因为这部分增长是在保单内部进行的,享有免税待遇,比存放在应税账户中的资金增长得更快。进入退休阶段后,可通过保单贷款的方式提取现金流——贷款本身不计入应税收入,部分情况下贷款利息还能起到降低个人边际税率的作用。身故理赔时,理赔金优先偿还未清偿的贷款,剩余部分则完全免税转移给受益人。从积累、提取到传承,每一个环节都在合法地控制税负。 A whole life policy builds cash value quickly in its early years, because that growth compounds tax-free inside the policy — faster than it would in a taxable account. In retirement, you draw income through a policy loan, which isn't counted as taxable income and, in some cases, the loan interest can even help lower your marginal tax rate. At death, the payout first repays any outstanding loan, and the remainder passes to your beneficiaries completely tax-free. From accumulation to withdrawal to transfer, every stage is designed to legally minimize tax.

一对50岁左右的夫妻着手规划退休后的现金流,计划退休后每年通过保单贷款领取5万加元。这笔收入无需报税,也不会影响老年金(OAS)的领取资格;身故后,理赔金偿还贷款后的余额将全数免税留给子女。A couple in their early 50s begin planning their retirement income, aiming to draw $50,000 a year through policy loans once they retire. This income isn't reported on their tax return and doesn't affect Old Age Security (OAS) eligibility. At death, the payout repays the loan, and the remaining balance passes to their children entirely tax-free.

夫妻联合保单(Joint Last-to-Die)Joint Last-to-Die Policy

这类保单仅在夫妻二人均身故后才予以理赔,由于理赔时间点通常更晚,风险相对更低,保费也因此较两份独立保单更为经济。它特别适合用来提前预留一笔资金,应对夫妻双方身故后,遗产因视同处置而产生的最终税款。 This type of policy only pays out after both spouses have passed away. Because the payout typically comes later, the risk to the insurer is lower — which makes premiums considerably more affordable than two individual policies. It's particularly well-suited to setting aside funds in advance for the final tax bill triggered when both spouses' estates are deemed disposed of.

一对65岁与58岁的夫妻投保一份联合最后身故保单,专门用于预留未来的遗产税款。相较于各自单独投保,保费降低了近四成,理赔金额恰好覆盖将来产生的税款,子女继承资产时无需变卖房产或投资来筹措税金。A couple, aged 65 and 58, purchase a joint last-to-die policy specifically to prepare for that future estate tax bill. Compared to two individual policies, premiums are nearly 40% lower, and the payout is sized to cover the tax owed — so their children can inherit the house and investments without having to sell anything to cover it.

终身寿险 + 保单融资贷款Whole Life + Policy Loan Financing

所缴纳的保费可立即申请贷款套现,用于其他投资,贷款利息在合规范围内还可用于抵减投资收益产生的应纳税额。更重要的是,这笔贷款并不影响保单现金价值的持续积累和保额的增长——同一笔资金,既完成了保障配置,又释放出了额外的投资资本。 Premiums paid into the policy can immediately be borrowed back against and redirected into other investments, and the loan interest may — within the applicable rules — help offset tax on the resulting investment income. Crucially, the loan doesn't interrupt the policy's ongoing cash value growth or coverage — the same dollar does two jobs at once: funding protection and freeing up investment capital.

Sam 刚出售了一套投资房产,手中有一笔闲置资金,原计划投入股市。他先用这笔资金购买了一份10年缴清的终身寿险,每年缴纳的保费随即申请贷款套现用于股票投资,贷款利息也为他抵减了不少个人所得税。十年后,保单已缴清,这十年的投资也取得了可观的回报。此时,Sam 可以选择部分或全部偿还保单贷款,保单则继续免税增长。Sam just sold an investment property and has cash on hand he'd planned to put into the stock market. Instead, he first buys a 10-pay whole life policy. Each premium he pays is immediately borrowed back out and invested in stocks, with the loan interest also reducing his personal tax bill along the way. Ten years later, the policy is fully paid up and his investments have performed well. At that point, Sam can choose to repay the loan in part or in full, while the policy itself continues growing tax-free.

公司保单与传承规划Corporate-Owned Policy & Succession Planning

公司盈余若以工资或分红形式分配给股东,个人还需就此再缴纳一次税款。若改由公司出资为股东本人投保,不仅保单内的现金价值可免税增长,未来理赔时,赔付金额还会为公司释放出一笔额外的免税额度(资本分红账户,CDA),使这笔资金乃至公司账上其他的税后利润,都能够以免税方式分配给继承人——这是企业资产传承中税务效率最高的方式之一。 When corporate surplus is paid out to shareholders as salary or dividends, it gets taxed again at the personal level. An alternative is for the corporation to fund a policy on the shareholder directly — the cash value grows tax-free inside the policy, and at payout, the death benefit creates additional tax-free capacity for the company (the Capital Dividend Account, or CDA), allowing that amount — and even other after-tax corporate profits — to flow to heirs tax-free. It's one of the most tax-efficient ways to pass on business assets.

一家贸易公司每年留存收益达50万加元。公司利用这笔资金为股东本人投保,未来股东身故后,理赔金进入公司的免税账户,这笔资金及其释放出的额外免税额度,均可免税分配给继承人,无需再缴纳一次个人所得税。A trading company retains $500,000 in surplus earnings each year. The corporation uses these funds to insure the shareholder directly. When the shareholder passes away, the payout flows into the company's tax-free Capital Dividend Account, and both that amount and the additional tax-free room it creates can be distributed to heirs — without triggering personal income tax a second time.

趁早为孩子投保,保住未来的可保性Insuring Children Early — Protecting Future Insurability

家族病史是保险公司核保时重点考量的因素之一,一旦父母被确诊某类重大疾病,子女未来投保时很可能因此被加费,甚至被附加除外条款,把这类疾病排除在承保范围之外。正因如此,在父母和孩子都健康的当下尽早为孩子配置保险,是避免"将来买不到"或"买到但保障打折扣"最有效的办法。 Family medical history plays a significant role in how insurers underwrite a child's future application. Once a parent is diagnosed with a serious illness, their children may face higher premiums — or specific exclusions — when they apply for coverage later. Insuring children while both parents and children are still healthy is the most effective way to avoid losing access to coverage, or having that coverage watered down, later on.

一位妈妈在38岁时确诊乳腺癌,所幸发现得早,治疗效果很好。病愈后,她想为女儿投保一份重疾险,但询问了多家保险公司,得到的结果都是:因为母亲的乳腺癌病史,女儿的保单会附加乳腺癌除外条款——也就是说,即便将来女儿真的患上同样的疾病,这份保险也不会赔付。A mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at 38. Fortunately it was caught early and treatment was successful. Afterward, she tried to insure her daughter with a critical illness policy — but every insurer she approached added an exclusion for breast cancer specifically, due to the family history. In other words, even if her daughter were later diagnosed with the same illness, this policy wouldn't pay out.

送给孩子的终身寿险Whole Life for a Child

每年以固定金额为孩子投保一份终身寿险,选择较短的缴费年限(如20年缴清),保单现金价值持续免税增长。孩子成年后,既可以从保单中支取资金用于人生的重要节点,也可以将保单直接转赠给孩子本人持有,实现财富的代际传承。 Insuring a child with a whole life policy funded by a fixed annual amount, on a shorter pay schedule (such as a 20-pay plan), lets the cash value grow tax-free over time. Once the child is grown, they can draw on that value for major life milestones, or the policy can simply be transferred into their name — carrying the gift forward another generation.

孩子出生当年起,父母将每年给孩子的压岁钱用作保费,投保一份20年缴清的终身寿险。待孩子步入大学时,这份保单恰好缴清,父母随即将保单转由孩子本人持有——作为送给孩子的一份成年礼。未来孩子结婚、创业或购房时,都可以从保单中支取现金价值。Starting the year their child is born, the parents use the child's annual lucky money (红包) as the premium for a 20-pay whole life policy. By the time the child starts university, the policy is fully paid up, and the parents transfer ownership to the child — a coming-of-age gift. Later, whether it's a wedding, starting a business, or buying a home, the child can draw on the policy's cash value.

45岁前后往往是家庭责任最重的阶段——上要赡养父母,下要抚育子女,房贷、教育、赡养样样都需要资金支持。在这个阶段配置定期寿险与重疾险,能以相对较低的成本锁定基础保障;一旦错过这个窗口,健康状况的任何变化都可能导致未来失去投保资格,可选择的空间也会越来越小。 Around age 45 is often when family responsibilities peak — caring for aging parents while raising children, all while managing a mortgage, education costs, and eldercare. Term life and critical illness coverage at this stage locks in essential protection at a relatively low cost. Wait too long, and any change in health could mean losing the ability to qualify for coverage at all — the options only narrow from here.

在资金相对有限的阶段,以定期寿险覆盖房贷是性价比最高的选择。选择带有"可转换"条款的定期寿险,未来收入提升后若想转为终身寿险,无需重新体检,也不必担心届时健康状况变化而失去投保资格。 When cash flow is tight, term life insurance to cover a mortgage is the most cost-effective form of protection. Choosing a convertible term policy means that later, once income improves, converting to whole life doesn't require a new medical exam — protecting against the risk of losing insurability down the road.

The core value of critical illness insurance is simple: on diagnosis, you receive a lump-sum, tax-free payout that fills exactly those gaps.

He considered flying the family back to China for testing, but airfares had spiked — nearly $100,000 CAD round-trip for the whole family — and he kept putting it off rather than spend that much. By the time he was diagnosed, it was late-stage colon cancer, and the best window for treatment had passed. Had he held a critical illness policy, the tax-free payout on diagnosis would have meant airfare, lost income, caregiving, or treatment abroad would never have been the reason to delay.
